Adult Naturalist Series - 2025-2026 Class Schedule

There is so much to learn about at Lime Hollow! We will offer classes and workshops to reveal the hidden gems that make up the natural elements and cultural history of the Lime Hollow area! These classes have the perfect amount of nature connection and personal enrichment for adults.

Get ready to have fun, be inspired, challenged and learn from our experienced staff or local experts from the community.

These programs are intended for individuals ages 13 and above. Participants aged 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Price: We want to make our programs available to everyone. We will have a sliding scale based one what you can afford. You will typically see multiple prices for the same event. You’ll see General Admission, Generous Admission & Reduced Admission.

Generous | If you are able, please consider this ticket. By choosing this ticket, you are purchasing your ticket and extra to go to allowing us to offer families the reduced tickets. This contribution also supports our education to the community. Your support goes a long way.

    Join us at Lime Hollow to reconnect with one of humanity's oldest skills: making fire with your own hands. Led by survival expert James Michael, In this workshop you will learn the art of primitive fire making using the bow drill. The bow drill is a traditional friction fire method used for thousands of years across many cultures. No matches or lighters in this class. You will carve your own kit, learn to source material, and practice the proper techniques to light your own flame. This workshop is designed for folks of any skill level and requires no prior experience. Whether your into survival skills or just want to try something new, this is an unforgettable way to connect with yourself and nature!

  • This program will be organized by the DEC and led by Leslie Wedge at Lime Hollow Nature Center.

    Trapping 101 will cover the fundamentals of trapping which include, safety ethics, trap types, animal signs, setting up and dismantling traps.

Led by Geologist David Barclay, this walk will uncover the powerful natural forces that shaped the landscape of Central New York! Whether you're a rock hound, history buff, or just curious about the land beneath your feet, this hike offers a chance to see the world around you in a new way. Bring your walking shoes and curiosity, because the rocks have a story to tell!

    Embrace the holiday spirit as you make your own traditional holiday wreath at our Education Campus. Use fresh evergreen boughs and other natural materials to create a one-of-a-kind wreath to complement your holiday decor.

    Please bring work gloves, and  ornamental additions. Class fee includes boughs, wire, ribbon and instruction.
