“TRAILS FOR ALL” CAMPAIGN

The Lime Hollow Nature Center has been envisioned as

“a place where ALL can wander, wonder, play and learn”

since its inception!

Imagine a place where someone in a wheelchair, with a walker or cane, can join someone pushing a stroller, while their toddlers toddle and kids run through fields and forests, all enjoying time together in nature.

Over the past two years, we have worked with Cornell University’s Design Connect program and SUNY Cortland’s outdoor recreation program to conduct community engagement, trail assessment, and planning to determine what the community would like to see at Lime Hollow and how to accomplish it.

The results were overwhelmingly in favor of an expanded accessible trail, more seating, and more signage!

Over the next 2 years, we will:

  • Regrade, reroute, and resurface certain trails which will expand the Trail for All from 1/4 mile to over 3 miles!

  • Create several rest points with seating along the Trail for All!

  • Repair and widen the existing Trail for All bridges and walkways.

  • Repair the accessible observation deck overlooking Gracie Pond.

  • Install new directional signage through our 13+ mile trail network

Lime Hollow also offers a battery powered, all-terrain Action TrackChair! This chair provides true independence to people with mobility challenges! Lime Hollow is the first and only nature center north of Westchester County to offer one! Learn more and make a reservation!
