Field Trips
Lime Hollow’s field trips offer standards-aligned, hands-on opportunities for students throughout Central NY to connect with the nature world and the concept they are learning in school. Field trips are inter-disciplinary and align with standards across curriculum including science, math, language arts, social studies, and social emotional learning.
Each field trip is led by trained environmental educators with the support of the participating school’s teachers and volunteers.

AWAKENING SENSES | Grades PreK-5
Spend the day outdoors immersed in nature and expand all of of your senses!
Water Wonders | Grades 2 - 5
What critters are hiding in our streams? Where does the water go and where does it come from? How do food chains work? Learn the answer to all of these questions and more!
Hatchet and Brian’s Winter | Grades 6-8
Gary Paulsen’s young adult novels Hatchet and Brian’s Winter comes to life as students put their survival skills to the test as we learn how to make fire, build shelters, and find food out in the wild. Think you can survive in the fall and spring? Try it in the winter by building snow shelters, tracking animals, and finding dry kindling to start fires.
Forest Play and Team Building Days | Grades PreK-12
Spend the day in the woods building forts, climbing logs, solving problems, and learning how to effectively communicate and problem solve. These days range from child-led activities where our instructors pick up on themes of interest and guide learning through emergent curriculum or more curated experiences for older students where students are presented with an outdoor challenge and work together to solve the problem.
