Lime Hollow encompasses nearly 594 acres of beautiful rolling hills and shallow glacial valleys (kame-and-kettle topography), forests, fields, streams, numerous ponds, including many marl ponds and vernal (seasonal) pools, a peat bog, and a great diversity of flora and fauna. Located on the border between Cortland and Tompkins Counties, in beautiful upstate New York, we offer over 12 miles of open-to-the-public, entrance-fee free trails.

Trails are open until dusk every day, free of charge. Trail maps can be found at the kiosk by the Visitor Center or downloading map app at Avenza Maps to access these digital maps.

Trail Etiquette and Policies

Sharing is Caring: Winter weather brings out hikers, snowshoers, skiers, and snowmobilers onto the trails. We ask that hikers and snowshoers stay off the ski trails during winter months. For multi-purpose trails like the Lehigh Valley, please stay out of ski tracks, reduce snowmobile speeds, and be mindful of all trail users.

Dogs: To help preserve the Lime Hollow area for people and wildlife, leashed dogs are only allowed along the Lehigh Valley Railway bed heading East towards Cortland. Please pickup all dog waste from the trail and carry it out with you.

Leave No Trace: Please stay on established trails, do not harvest plants or remove artifacts, and remove all trash from the trails.

Ticks: Don’t let ticks suck the fun out of Nature! Ticks are present at Lime Hollow, as they are throughout Central N.Y. It is important to stay on the trails and avoid high grass, wear long sleeves and pants, and do a daily tick check. FIND OUT MORE

Accessibility

Lime Hollow maintains a 1/4 mile Accessible Trail , which is graded to decrease slopes and is made up of a surface suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, and the like. This trail connects to the Art Trail (1/3 mile) which is accessible most times of the year excluding period of prolonged rain and snow.

We are actively working on connecting these two trails and expanding the connection to the Lehigh Valley Trail which is also accessible. Find out more…

Lime Hollow now offer an all-terrain, battery powered Action TrackChair which allows individuals with mobility challenges to access large portions of the Lime Hollow trail network! We also offer a manual trail ready wheelchair available in the Visitor Center free of charge during open hours.
